“Do everything with your heart. Be patient, compassionate, and treat others like they are your family.”
– Delia Montano
We are pleased to celebrate Delia Montano and her incredible commitment to 30 years as a team member at CiminoCare. Delia currently serves as the Executive Director of Mills Estate Villa, however her career started in 1994 as a caregiver at Burlingame Villa. The love of her job, her compassion, and her impressive work ethic are just some of the reasons as to why Delia is a role model and core member of our team.
Delia was destined to be a care partner. Being the eldest of 11 children prepared and inspired her to become a registered midwife where she grew up, in the city of Manila in the Philippines. She was hired as a nanny for a family in America, and on April 3, 1988 she moved to the United States. During this time she became a registered CNA and applied for a caregiver role at Burlingame Villa. She worked there for two years, and when Mills Estate Villa was built in 1996, she transferred to work as a shift manager. For 17 years, Delia concurrently worked as a CNA at Millbrae Serra Convalescent Hospital, working seven days a week between both jobs. After seeing her tenacity, CiminoCare promoted her to Resident Care Coordinator, and she was once again promoted to the role of Executive Director at Mills Estate Villa, which she has held for the last 10 years.
Family and a passion for taking care of others are at the core of what drives Delia to succeed. Delia helps support her 10 siblings and her 90 year-old mother. She has two children, and four grandchildren. Delia experienced the loss of her father to dementia, and the loss of two husbands. She persevered by praying everyday and working hard to always provide for her family. Determination and a strong work ethic certainly runs in this family! Delia is extremely proud of her children and grandchildren for their accomplishments. She loves to spend time with her family, and even built several houses in the Philippines so when she and her mom go back to visit they can all be together.
In her spare time, Delia serves on the Batanagas Association of Northern California, a committee dedicated to fundraising for the underprivileged in the Philippines. She is also a member of the Burlingame Rotary Club. People often ask Delia where she gets her energy, and her response is that she is always excited to go to work everyday and truly enjoys what she does.
She considers CiminoCare a part of her family, and is extremely grateful to the company for the support they have shown her and her children over the last 30 years. Her advice for a fulfilled life is, “Do everything with your heart. Be patient, compassionate, and treat others like they are your family.”
